Queen legend Brian May has been continuing his lockdown micro-concerts for fans via his Instagram account. Last week, the 72-year-old played guitar virtually alongside singer Kerry Ellis during her latest streamed concert. The pair have been collaborators since first meeting when she starred as Meat in the original West End cast of Queen musical We Will Rock You.

May wrote: “I Who Have Nothing…sung by Kerry Ellis last week in her live IG concert Number 3.

“An amazing performance by the luminous Kerry of a song we often did live together in tour in those Golden Days.

“My track is very imperfect – but I like the spontaneity of a Take-1 trial.

“There’s a story there – tell ya later.”

On May’s struggles with tour life, Ellis added: “It’s a really difficult one to understand unless you’re doing it.

“You’re doing something that you love doing…more than life; being out there performing, it’s like breathing. It’s so special.

“And having that relationship with an audience and making people feel things [and seeing them] react the way that they do, is incredible.

“Also, the other side of it that people don’t see, or perhaps they now do see because of social media, is the time that you’re out for months at a time, you’re away from your family, you’re in a lot of hotel rooms – which sounds very glamorous – but actually you’re on your own quite a bit.”

In a recent Instagram post, May thanked fans for sending some artwork of him, while he was suffering from a ripped gluteus maximus.

The 72-year-old wrote: “I’m so touched by every one of these visualisations.

“Each one restores a piece of me tonight as I wrestle with the physical pain which has settled on me the last few days – so strong and so persistent that I hardly feel alive.

“I will take these lovely visions with me as I search for healing sleep tonight. THANK YOU !!!”
