Graceland is the home of Elvis Presley, and has become one of the most iconic and famous homes ever. The house and its ground was also home to Priscilla Presley, their daughter Lisa Marie, as well as his own father Vernon, and Vernon’s second wife Dee. The home is often somewhere megafans of The King will visit on their pilgrimages to the USA, so they can get a glimpse of Presley’s home.
When is Graceland reopening?
Like many museums, historical places or places of cultural interest, Graceland has been closed for some time due to the coronavirus.
The COVID-19 pandemic has left many cultural heritage sites in the UK concerned as to how they will be able to reopen once the crisis is over.
However, in the USA, states are beginning to reopen some of their famous landmarks, and Graceland seems to be one of them.

According to a statement from Priscilla Presley, Graceland will reopen from Thursday, May 21, after a two-month closure.
A statement on the Graceland website reads: “Graceland has been working diligently to reconfigure all of our operations, including tours, retail and restaurants, to ensure the health and safety of our guests and associates for our re-opening.
“Our COVID-19 plan and protocols meet or exceed the social distancing, capacity, and health and safety guidelines outlined by local, state and federal authorities.”
On the website, there are clear guidelines to how peoples’ visits may be different during the pandemic, with specific guidelines given around health and safety.
The capacity for Graceland tours has been decreased by 25 per cent, meaning fewer people will be allowed in the mansion at a time, while there will be “enhanced sanitisation” of the house as well as hand sanitiser spots for guests on arrival.
There will also be contactless spots for guests, such as iPads and other advanced ticket options, as well as social distancing measures and signage for fans to adhere to.
To add further confirmation of the estate’s plans to reopen, Presley’s widow, Priscilla Presley, echoed the sentiments on her Facebook page.
She wrote: “Yes it’s true! Graceland will open her doors on May 21st.
“Please protect yourself and wear your mask even gloves if you choose.”
Shelby County, where Graceland is based, has reported over 3,700 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and 84 deaths as of Sunday morning.
The county, which is based in the state of Tennessee, is currently in Phase 1 of its reopening plan.
Graceland was opened to the public as a museum in 1982 and is the second most-visited house in the USA, with it usually gaining 650,000 visits every year.
The only other house to gain more visitors is the White House.
