Community movie plot pitched by Donald Glover at Community cast reunion | Films | Entertainment

The much-loved sitcom ran from 2009 to 2015, but the film part of the “Six Season and a Movie” commitment has yet to materialise. But now, five years since Community ended and the cast have reunited for a virtual charity table read of Season 5 episode Cooperative Polygraphy. Back together, the cast and show creator Dan Harmon were asked about that highly anticipated Community movie.
Donald Glover, who left the show during Season 5 and has since shot to stardom, pitched a plot during the Q&A with Variety after the table read.
The 36-year-old’s Troy Barnes was left $14.3 million in shares in Pierce Hawthorne’s will – during that table read episode in fact – but only on the condition he sails around the world.
So off his character went and Glover joked: “In the Community world he is definitely dead.”
But the star then pitched the idea of Danny Pudi’s Abed searching for Troy being the basis for a Community movie.

Following the recent resurgence of Community on Netflix, Harmon told The Wrap: “I can say that there are conversations happening that people would want to be happening.
“I’m very, very excited about the coming months.”
Certainly, the table read reunion, with Glover on board, and the resurfacing popularity of the show are good signs that a Community movie will finally happen.
In fact, Jeff star Joel McHale and Chan actor Ken Jeong have started a podcast during lockdown called The Darkest Timeline.
The duo have spent a lot of time nostalgically reminiscing about their Community days.
Plus, they’ve had co-stars and crew appear as guests and, interestingly, any talk of a Community movie isn’t really touched upon.
Perhaps, they’re hoping that maximising a renewed interest in their beloved sitcom without mentioning the obvious is their best bet of seeing the “Six Seasons and a Movie” prophecy finally fulfilled.
Surely a Netflix movie is the way?
