Queen guitarist Brian May has been spending lockdown in his London home where he’s performed micro-concerts on his Instagram to keep fan spirits high. However, the 72-year-old has faced several health problems in recent weeks. Having ripped his Gluteus Maximus when gardening, May had to go to the hospital and has been struggling with terrible pain since returning home.

While the Queen legend has since admitted in a new Instagram video, that after another MRI scan, it was revealed that he had a compressed sciatic nerve which was causing pain so bad that it felt like a screwdriver in his back.

And to make matters more distressing for the musician, he added: “In the middle of it, the rest of the story is a little bit more bizarre and a bit more shocking.

“In the middle of the whole saga of the painful backside, I had a small heart attack.

“I say small, it’s not something that did me any harm.”

May added: “I actually thought of it a couple of weeks ago but I was in too much pain to video it.

“I’m planning to put an account of my whole recent story up. I thought it was way too long and involved to put on Instagram or IGTV, but in the end this is probably the most personal way of doing it.. Cheers all – Bri.”

The 72-year-old appeared in remarkably good spirits considering everything he’s been through.

During the lockdown, May has recorded a new version of We Are The Champions with Queen and Adam Lambert.

The song is called You Are The Champions and was recorded remotely between London and Los Angeles.

Queen and Adam Lambert’s accompanying music video features frontline health workers around the world.

This includes a shot of Queen drummer Roger Taylor’s daughter Dr Rory Taylor.

Queen and Adam Lambert’s You Are The Champions is available from today across all streaming and download services with proceeds going towards the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organisation.
