Kaitlin Rust, a reporter at Wave 3 News, approached the riot police in Minneapolis to get footage of the events. But she began screaming when an officer walked towards her and the camera crew while firing pepper bullets. In footage she can be heard saying: “I’m getting shot!”

A presenter in the studio quickly asked: “Are you okay?”

Ms Rust continued: “Pepper bullets! It’s okay.”

The presenter asked: “Who are the aiming at?”

Ms Rust replied: “At us! They’re aiming directly at us!”
