Applications for the Our Pass scheme will reopen for new applications on Wednesday, July 1, providing extended support to young people.
Existing Our Pass holders who are 18 will be given an extra year of support to help them after they have left school and college.
The move, it is said, is to reward those who have been drastically affected by lockdown, who would otherwise lose their entitlement.
Those who are able to apply for Our Pass must have been born between September 1, 2001 and August 31, 2004.
They must also live in Greater Manchester, with the pass allowing them to travel around the city with ease.
The membership pass requires a £10 one-off fee, but provides a wide range of benefits which are backed by the regional government.
These include career talks, workshops and retail discounts.
Mr Burnham added: “Before lockdown we had 39,000 active users, who between them took advantage of a range of experience and made more than 7.4 million journeys.”
Free bus passes are available for a wide range of different groups across the country.
The most common, and well-known option is an older person’s bus pass which is available in all four corners of the UK.
In England, this is available for men and women once they reach the female State Pension age.
For Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the free bus pass is available for people aged 60 and over.
