Last year, saw the publication of Sir Elton John’ autobiography Me, which includes passages on his four-year marriage to Renate Blauel in the 1980s. And just last month, the star’s ex-wife filed a legal injunction against him in London, allegedly over the mentions of her in his book. According to The Sun, she claims the comments about her in Me, while positive, breaks the non-disclosure agreement he signed after their divorce.

Allegedly, the passages in the book “triggered long-standing” mental issues for the 67-year-old German.

The BBC reports Blauel is demanding an estimated £3 million from Sir Elton in the lawsuit.

An insider said: “Elton is shocked and saddened by Renate’s claim.

“Especially as he has only ever praised her publicly.”

In an extract, Sir Elton wrote: “I’d broken the heart of someone I loved and who loved me unconditionally, someone I couldn’t fault in any way.

“Despite all the pain, there was no acrimony involved at all.

“For years afterwards, whenever something happened to me, the press would turn up on her doorstep, looking for her to dish the dirt, and she never, ever has: she told them to leave her alone.”

The singer also revealed in his Me autobiography that he’s hardly seen Blauel since their divorce.

Sir Elton added: “I saw her once after we divorced … When I had children, I invited her to [John’s home] Woodside because I wanted her to meet them; I wanted to see her, I wanted her to be part of our lives, and us part of hers, in some way.

“But she didn’t want to, and I didn’t push the issue. I have to respect how she feels.”

Before his marriage to Blauel, Sir Elton was also briefly engaged to Linda Hannon.

However, the singer ended that relationship just a few weeks before their wedding was supposed to take place in the sixties.
