Morrisons is the first food store to reinstate its food rations. Back in March, panic buying and stockpiling left the supermarket shelves empty. With fear of a second wave of the virus, supermarkets have reintroduced new rules as well as food giant Morrisons introducing buying restrictions again on certain items in-store and online. 

Other supermarket giants have also said that panic buying is not needed and creates a tension in the supply chain which leave result in empty shelves for several days. 

Tesco CEO Dave Lewis said panic buying is “unnecessary” and added that it only “creates a tension in the supply chain”. 

To keep customers safe amid the rise in cases and infection, Morrisons has also introduced measures when food shopping in-store.

In their recent announcement, the supermarket said they will be reinstalling their indoor and outdoor queuing system across all stores.

The online food box service will help shoppers get groceries delivered to their door so that they do not have to leave their home. 

A lot of supermarkets turned to food boxes back in the peak of the pandemic and have now continued them. 

Costing just £30, the Feed a Family Recipe Box contains five meals, suitable for a family of four.

Each meal works out at only £1.50 and food includes vegetables, meat and cheese. 

A Cupboard Essentials box is also available to purchase for £22 which includes soup, pasta, tuna, beans and toilet roll.
