Star Wars Return of the Jedi changed FOREVER in The Mandalorian season 2’s first episode | Films | Entertainment

After months of waiting, The Mandalorian season 2 has finally arrived. The new Disney+ series continues from where it left off, with episode 1 aka Chapter 9 including some fun Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Easter Eggs including a couple of moments that change the movie forever – so be warned on reading any further. Of course, fans will know The Mandalorian takes place just a few years after the Original Trilogy ended with Episode VI and what a big return we just witnessed.

Firstly, Mando and Baby Yoda found themselves back on Luke’s home planet of Tatooine and in a town called Mos Pelgo.

There they meets Timothy Olyphant’s marshal Cobb Vanth who was wearing Boba Fett’s recovered armour.

Star Wars will remember that Boba fell into the Sarlaac pit at the start of Return of the Jedi on that same planet.

But now here’s Cobb, who first appeared in canon novel Aftermath, in his Mandalorian armour.

During Chapter 9: The Marshal, Cobb shares that he purchased Boba’s recovered armour from some Jawas.

But then in the episode’s shocking final shot we see a bald man in the desert who turns around.

And yes, he’s none other than Temuera Morrison, who played Boba’s father Jango Fett in the Prequel Trilogy.

He is indeed playing his on-screen son in The Mandalorian season 2, which is particularly exciting for fans.

After all, it now proves, as suspected by some fans, that Boba isn’t dead.

But what’s particularly shocking is that he’s not wearing his Mandalorian armour.

We learnt in the first season that the Mandalorians never remove their helmet in public.

Mando says that if he should ever take it off, he would never be able to put it on again.

While this rule was only first introduced to the Star Wars canon in The Mandalorian, it should still apply to Boba now.

Presumably, he’s done with being a Mandalorian, but no doubt will play a significant role later on in the series.

Another fun Return of the Jedi Easter egg was Cobb watching the second Death Star blow up on a hologram in a bar.

This took place right at the end of the Original Trilogy, but the Empire’s collapse also saw lawlessness descend upon the Galaxy.

Other references to the Original Trilogy included a pig man aka Gamorrean at the start of the episode.

These creatures guarded Jabba the Hutt at the beginning of Return of the Jedi.

While a return to Tatooine saw the Sand People aka Tusken Raiders once again.

And did you spot Cobb’s camtono, the famous “ice cream maker” held by Willow Hood in The Empire Strikes Back?
