“I know as an expert, so many relationships would crumble in the face of criticism and bad media, nonacceptance by family members.

“It is one of their major strengths, that they have been able to preserve the love and support in the relationship and not let anything from the outside affect them.”

Sami herself considers Charles and Camilla’s relationship to be “inspiring and amazing”.

She said: “Camilla has been a stabilising factor for Prince Charles through and through. She is the woman who has been a friend, who has heard him out, who has been there when things were rough in his marriage and again, I think it’s their friendship, more than the romance, that has stood the test of time.
