Star Wars: Axed Rey art shows her joining the Dark Side in The Rise of Skywalker | Films | Entertainment

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker brought all of the ongoing story threads to an end last year. Disney, in association with Lucasfilm, concluded the sequel trilogy by sending both Rey Skywalker (played by Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) to battle Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid). Ultimately, Rey and Kylo defeated the dark lord, but sacrificed Kylo along the way.
However, originally things were supposed to go a lot differently for Rey.
Considering she is the granddaughter of Palpatine, she already had the Dark Side of the Force within her.
Because of this, she has always been tempted the malevolent side of power – but she found her way into the light when she worked with her mentor, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).
It has now been revealed that some concept art was drafted to see how a Dark Side Rey would look in the final movie.

The character almost became evil during the film when Palpatine tried to seduce her onto his side.
And Star Wars concept artist Adam Brockbank recently posted how this would have looked.
The image shows off Rey in a dark red outfit – similar to Kylo Ren’s – with blood-red eyes and a devilish scowl.
The image is accompanied by a close-up with showed Rey’s face blistering, presumably succumbing to the toxic power of the dark side.
In a recent interview Foster explained that he was forced by Disney to cut a blossoming romance between Rey and Finn (John Boyega) from his novelisation.
Foster explained: “There were a couple of things in there, and a couple of things that happened subsequently that bothered me.
“I’m going to tell you one thing they made me take out because enough time has passed, I don’t think it matters.
“There was obviously the beginnings of a relationship between John Boyega’s character [Finn] and Daisy Ridley’s character [Rey].”
Foster went on to add: “I expected to see that developed further in Episode VIII [The Last Jedi], and zero happened with it.”
This is not completely surprising as The Rise of Skywalker saw Finn telling Rey during a death-defying event: “Rey, I never told you…” before he was cut off.
It sounds as if Finn and Rey were destined to be together from the beginning of sequel trilogy, but the Star Wars story is never over. Viewers could still see this story play out in future films in the series.
The Star Wars saga is available on Disney Plus now.
