Jennifer Lopez arrived on stage at the US presidential inauguration to perform This Land Is Your Land and America The Beautiful, dressed in a white coat and white ruffled blouse. The world-renowned songstress is just one of dozens of singers and musicians to perform at Joe Biden’s swearing-in today, including John Legend, Demi Lovato, Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen and Justin Timberlake.

After belting out a phrase in Spanish during her performance, many fans are now wondering what is known about her family and her nationality.

JLo is of Puerto Rican descent but was born and raised in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx, New York.

Her family set off for the big apple from Ponce, Puerto Rico’s largest city after San Juan.

Speaking of her ethnicity in 2006, she said: “I’ve never tried to hide the fact that I’m Latina.

“I think that’s why Hispanics are like ‘She’s ours; she’s out there, but she belongs to us’ and that’s true.

“With the Latino community, I am theirs. I do belong to them—that’s who I am.”
