Lady Gaga, 34, looked stunning today as she sang the national anthem at the inauguration of US President-elect Joe Biden on the West Front of the US Capitol today. For the occasion, the singer opted for a simple outfit with a statement gold brooch.
She said: “I pray tomorrow will be a day of peace for all Americans.
“A day for love, not hatred. A day for acceptance not fear. A day for dreaming of our future joy as a country. A dream that is non-violent, a dream that provides safety for our souls. Love, from the Capitol.”
People also took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Lady Gaga’s statement piece of jewellery.
One person wrote: “Yes Lady Gaga, love her voice and her stunning brooch.”
Another said: “So inspired this morning by Lady Gaga, I made my own giant bird brooch to wear for the rest of the day.”
A third joked and wrote: “Lady Gaga’s brooch is huge, it’s bigger than my dog.”
The symbol of a dove is commonly used to represent unity and peace, and aligns with the new US President aims of bringing unity back to America.
Her hair was tied up in a crown braid and was secured at the back with red flowers.
Wispy pieces of hair fell towards the front of her face, covering her forehead and framing her face.
Lady Gaga’s outfit wasn’t the only one to have a special meaning associated with it.
Kamilla Harris wore pearls with a symbolic meaning as she officially became the first female Vice President of the US.
Her signature pearls are an ode to her Alpha Kappa Alpha sisterhood.
She also wore designs from Christopher John Rogers and Sergio Hudson, two American brands.
Her purple coat was accompanied by black accessories including a face mask.
Michelle Obama has also been seen wearing Hudson’s designs.
