Kamala Harris news: Vice President’s £8,000 Manolo Blahnik shoe collection

Kamala has been noted for wearing her Chuck Taylors by Converse. She has a large collection and many have commented on the relatable footwear, lauded as her signature style. In a joint interview with CBS, her husband Doug Emhoff emphasised this down-to-earth image saying, “When I met her, it was Chucks and jeans.”
However, Kamala also has a taste for another style of shoe – a heel with a famous name and huge price tag – and often wears these shoes for her most important and high profile appearances, especially since she became Vice President.
Manolo Blahnik is a famous brand of shoes. For many, they are synonymous with popular TV programme Sex and the City as they were a favourite of lead character Carrie Bradshaw.
The shoes have also been name-checked or featured in Fifty Shades of Grey and Gossip Girl as well as a surprising number of rap songs, including by Jay Z.
Kamala looked stunning in purple for the Inauguration, a colour many noted is one associated with the Suffragettes.
The dress and coat ensemble was by Christopher John Rogers and Sergio Hudson and she wore a pair of Manolo Blahnik heels, the BB 105 style in black patent leather, £515.

Kamala has the same style in grey patent leather, £515, and wore them at the Sojourner Truth Women’s Leadership Reception in September 2018.
For the Inaugural Prayer Service, Kamala wore the Manolo Blahnik ‘Lisa’ in the 70mm height in black.
She wore it with a Prabal Gurung ensemble.
Kamala also has the pair in a 70mm height in black, wearing them at the Democratic Convention in August, £480.
The Vice President also own the 70mm Lisa in tan leather, £480, in white leather, and has been seen wearing a patent black version of the Lisa with an “almond” toe, £480.

For a COVID memorial, the night before the Inauguration, it was another pair of Manolo Blahniks for Kamala, a leather pair of kneehigh boots with a centre seam. Knee-high boots sell on Manolo Blahnik’s site for around £1,000.
In May last year, she wore the ‘Pretati’ in black patent with white trim, £640.
Kamala has been a fan of the brand for many, many years. In 2015 she wore the Foka design to a campaign event, £480.
Kamala has been spotted in shoes from the brand as far back at 2010 when she wore the Black Patent D’Orsay Pumps to visit a gallery, £606. The same year in October she wore the Black Patent Bow Buckle Pump, £595, for a Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project.
Kamala wore a stunning white gold and pearl necklace from Wilfredo Rosado.
The Vice President wore a bespoke version of the company’s Pearl Haute Joaillerie necklace.
The piece features 12 large pearls set in gold links, with the brand stating: “The combination of an elliptical link chain necklace with delicate South Sea pearls and brilliant diamonds floating between the links makes for a bold yet feminine statement.”
The brand declared its pride in providing jewellery to the VP.
On its website it posted a statement: “Making history…we are honoured that Vice President Kamala Harris wore W.Rosado for the momentous occasion fo her inauguration as the first female Vice President of the United States.”
