Supermarkets across the UK have bolstered their rules in a bid to preserve the safety of their customers. Store policies have come into place on top of nationwide rules for mask-wearing. Tesco

Tesco has implemented a series of changes to its in-store shopping policy.

To start, they have made it a legal requirement for people to wear masks indoors, unless with Government-mandated exception.

People must also shop alone where possible unless they are a carer or have children.

Asda

Asda has introduced many of the same in-store rules Tesco has.

They ask people not to enter a store if they have Covid symptoms, including a persistent cough, fever or loss of smell and taste.

Staff will also limit the number of people allowed indoors, and some shops have become 24-hour locations.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s has also reduced the number of people allowed indoors and is asking people to shop alone with masks.

They said security guards would “support our colleagues at the front of the store and will challenge customers who are not wearing masks”.

The supermarket has also worked to ensure people can order food online, by freeing up an additional 800,000 order slots.
