Gigi Hadid has shared her first solo Vogue cover shoot, snapped just 10 weeks after giving birth to her daughter Khai.

The 25-year-old said she wasn’t worried about the pressure of trying to get back to size zero for the booking, and that anyone who expected her to “could suck it”.

Hadid and former One Direction star Zayn Malik, 28, have been dating on and off since 2015 and announced the birth of their first child in September last year.

Speaking to US Vogue, Hadid said: “I know that I’m not as small as I was before, but I also am a very realistic thinker.

“I straight up was like, ‘Yeah, I’ll shoot a Vogue cover, but I’m obviously not going to be a size zero,’ nor do I, at this point, feel like I need to be back to that.

“I also think it’s a blessing of this time in fashion that anyone who says that I have to be that can suck it.”

Hadid had previously criticised the publication for writing an article which suggested she was “disguising” her baby bump during her pregnancy.

Sharing images from the cover shoot on her Instagram page – all of which show Hadid with hair extensions down to her waist – she told her 63.5 million followers she was dedicating the shoot “to all the moms who haven’t brushed their hair in a couple days”.

The model told the magazine she had felt like “an animal woman” during her 14-hour labour at her home in Pennsylvania, with Malik, her mother Yolanda, and her sister Bella by her side.

She said it was the “craziest pain in my life” and admitted both she and Malik both agree they need to “have some time” before planning any more babies.

Hadid revealed her first-born’s name – which is Arabic for “the chosen one” – on Instagram last month, when she changed her bio to read “Khai’s mom”.

Malik, who released his third album Nobody Is Listening in January, told his fans on social media that putting his feelings about becoming a father into words was “an impossible task”.

After the birth, he told his 39 million followers: “The love I feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, and thankful for the life we will have together.”
