Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will lose their royal roles the Queen confirmed in a statement today. It comes after the Dukes and Duchess of Sussex told Her Majesty they will not return to their roles as working royals. This means their royal roles, including military titles and roles within the Commonwealth, will be returned to the Queen who will redistribute them. Who will replace Harry and Meghan? Many have speculated it will be Prince Edward’s wife Sophie.

When the Countess makes a public appearance, many royal fans will eagerly watch to see what she is wearing.

Sophie has a unique sense of style which she has showcased during engagements, according to director of fashion buying at CHO clothing Gareth O’Rourke.

“Sophie, Countess of Wessex is known to be extremely hard working in her role to support the Queen and her involvement in various charity work,” he told Express.co.uk.

“She has always been known for her elegant yet simple fashion sense.”

DON’T MISS

Sophie has seemed to take on more responsibilities while in the Royal Family and her role could continue to grow.

It is thought Prince Edward is set to become the Duke of Edinburgh in the future, which would make Sophie the Duchess of Edinburgh.

Over the last 20 years, the expert suggested Sophie’s style has become more eye-catching.

By opting for some bold looks recently, the mother-of-two could have hinted at her changing role.

She has recently made virtual appearances to speak with frontline workers and to attend a meeting to discuss the work of female peacebuilders in conflict zones.

When making important appearances, Sophie could also use her fashion to make a statement.

Gareth claimed the royal could choose strong looks to gather more attention when she discusses important topics.

He continued: “Bold fashion statements are a great way for the Countess of Wessex to gain media attention and raise awareness of her charity work.”

The royal line of succession – who outranks who?

The line of succession to the British throne dictates the order in which each member of the Royal Family would ascend to the throne.

It is also seen as a ranking of importance with the head of the line, the Queen, taking the place of ruler.

Older children come before younger children. Traditionally boys came before girls, but this law was changed on 26 March 2015 before the birth of Prince William’s first child.

Incredibly, Catholics are still excluded from the line of succession, as are children born outside of wedlock.

The royals, who usually stick to a strict protocol when appearing in public, often arrive at events in ascending order of importance, with the most important royal arriving last.

Prince Charles, 72, is currently first-in-line to the British throne, followed by Prince William, 38, his oldest son.

Then comes Prince William’s children, George, seven, Charlotte, five, and Louis, two, and they are followed by Prince Harry, 36. Prince Harry is succeeded by his son Archie Harrison, born in May 2019.
