Britain’s biggest family spends £400 a week shopping in Asda

The Radford family will feature on tonight’s Channel 5 documentary 22 Kids and Counting. One key scene shows the family put away their massive £400 Asda delivery. The family of 24 require so much food, the delivery driver practically blocks the front door with crates and bags and we see the family take the almighty load to their kitchen. Mum Sue Radford, 45, says: “We go through 16 pints of milk a day, two to three loaves of bread. If we were having sausages for a meal, we would have maybe 48-56 sausages.
“We have got to get lots more than any average family would need. I would say that we spend £350-£400 a week on shopping. It’s just massive, it’s never-ending.”
The various national lockdowns over the past few months have caused the family’s food bill to go “through the roof”.
Out of their 22 children, 19 of them live at home and have been stuck indoors 24/7 following school closures. Ms Radford says: “They have eaten us out of house and home.”
Ms Radford also runs her own YouTube channel in which she discusses what life is like living and bringing up a ginormous family.

She has previously discussed how difficult she is finding home-schooling saying: “Tell you what, I will be so glad when home-schooling is finished. I don’t know about anybody else, but I am just so ready for them to go back to school.
“I am finding it really hard work especially when we have got so many to home-school, it has just not been easy.”
In another video, Ms Radford showed a disastrous haircut gone wrong that Hallie, five, had given to four-year-old Phoebe. She said: “I need to train as a hairdresser because these situations are getting a bit ridiculous now.”
The family support themselves and their children with a bakery and don’t rely on benefits.
