Meghan Markle’s pregnancy style ‘symbolises a new beginning’ with recycled dress

Meghan Markle, 39, tied the knot with Prince Harry, 36, in 2018. A year later, they welcomed their first born, Archie, who was born on May 6, 2019. The couple recently announced that they were expecting their second child, although the due date is unknown. For the reveal, the former suits actress wore a bespoke dress by Carolina Herrera.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, fashion stylist and owner of Stories with Clothes, Abbey Booth, has commented on how the Duchess’ outfit had a special meaning linked to it.
She said: “The image shared was a black and white shot which was taken on an iPad by Nigerian-born British photographer based in London and friend of the Duchess of Sussex, Misan Harriman.
“The Duchess of Sussex wore a beautiful, bespoke, cream flowing dress by Carolina Herrera, which was first made when she was pregnant with Archie in 2019, though she has never been seen in public in this dress before now.”
The expert shared that the colour of the dress could signify that the couple are ready for a fresh start.

“The flow of the Carolina Herrera dress really epitomises Meghan’s new found lifestyle with more freedom and self expression available to her now.
“When she became an active part of the Royal family her outfits were much more formal, structured and muted in tone reflecting her role and the constraints she found herself in.
“The Duchess has always been an active feminist in her roles in the UN as a women’s advocate (for Political Participation and Leadership) and ambassador for Canada’s World Vision Clean Water and white is a colour strongly associated with the Suffragette movement, along with purple.”
Rewearing clothing in the Royal Family is often rare with the Queen reportedly donating her old clothes to her dressers who are then allowed to do whatever they want with a piece of clothing.
However recycling outfits is not something new to Meghan, and throughout her time as a working royal she regularly appeared rewearing outfits.
With sustainability being on everyone’s minds, rewearing clothing may be important for the Duchess to appear more relatable and low maintenance.
Abbey explained: “Re-wearing pieces already owned has become big news amongst the royals with Kate Middleton being a big fan of wearing items multiple times and shows how they can be reinvented with tailoring and adjustment to suit your style and of course an evolving body shape during pregnancy.
“The Duchess of Sussex has consistently used her style to champion brands with sustainability at their core, from established labels like Stella McCartney and Gabriela Hearst — to smaller, emerging labels like French sneaker brand Veja, Staud and Room 502 which use recycled materials and fair-trade brand Mayamiko.
“She has also worn vintage pieces such as the Dior coat she wore to a royal engagement.”
Kate Middleton is also a huge fan of designer brands but has also showed off her thrifty side on multiple occasions throughout the years, including high-street brands.
The Duchess of Cambridge will also rewear pieces of jewellery including bracelets, necklaces and earrings.
She has also worn more affordable pieces throughout lockdown including from brands like Missoma and Monica Vinader.
The couple’s daughter, Princess Charlotte has already been seen rewearing outfits like her mother.
In 2019, Charlotte was pictured wearing a cute ditsy print blue dress with a white Peter Pan collar on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the Trooping the Colour.
The Princess was then seen in the same dress in a photo a few months later to mark The Prince of Wales’ 70th birthday.
