“Already 1.5 million people receive Pension Credit, leading to a free TV license for those aged over 75 and many more financial benefits, such as help with things like council tax and NHS dental treatment.”

Pensioners whose income is below £173.75 (for individuals) or £265.20 (for couples) per week may be eligible to receive Pension Credit, the DWP explained.

The Government hosts a free online Pension Credit calculator enabling people to check eligibility and get an estimate of what they might receive.

It’s important to note that having savings, a pension or owning a home are not necessarily barriers to receiving Pension Credit.
