Queen Letizia style: Royal stuns in workwear outfit

Queen Letizia attended an event at the Royal Academy of Language in Madrid yesterday. As a former journalist, she was a suitable figure to contribute to a discussion about the Spanish language.
As a former journalist and news anchor, Letizia was often seen on TV in smart blouses, collared blazers, high-waisted trousers, and chic pencil skirts.
Yesterday, the Queen showed fans that she has not forgotten what a stylish workwear outfit should look like, as she stepped out in an ensemble not unlike what her former self would wear.
As she arrived the Royal Academy, Letizia wore a black and white gingham coat that reached her knees, featuring a wide collar, black buttons, and two pockets on its front.
The coat was made by Spanish designer Mirto and cost only £333.
The coat’s price tag suggests that Letizia is sensible with money and, though she could perhaps afford something more expensive, she prefers to opt for more accessible clothes.
Letizia’s fashion choices also show that the Queen is mindful of environmental issues as she recycles many of her wardrobe staples.
However, this coat by Mirto seems to be new.
The Spanish queen paired the coat with black leather leggings from Uterqüe, a black bag, and black stiletto heels.
Uterqüe is another brand from Spain and Letizia seems to be a big fan – she has many items by the designer, such as a black crocodile-print clutch bag that she wears often, and a white cropped blazer with black, burgundy, and mustard-yellow stripes.
Underneath her trench coat yesterday Letizia wore a smart collarless white blouse, and she carried a black Nina Ricci handbag with a gold chain.
This handbag seems to be one of the Queen’s favourite bags as she has worn it to various recent engagements.
As for jewellery, Letizia wore gold stud earrings in the shape of dragonflies and her instantly recognisable gold oval ring.
Queen Letizia joined Spanish news agency EFE’s president, Gabriela Cañas, as well as the Royal Academy of Language’s director, Santiago Muñoz Machado, yesterday for a meeting in Madrid.
After working for EFE, Letizia moved to CNN+ Nan later the popular Spanish TV channel 24 Horas.
It was during this time that the journalist met her husband-to-be, Felipe VI, at a dinner party.
Two years later, in 2004, the couple married, with Letizia leaving her role in the media and becoming a member of the Spanish royal family.
