Fleetwood Mac last toured in November 2019 with Neil Finn and Michael Campbell, who had replaced the fired Lindsey Buckingham. A year and a half on from the last concert and fans are wondering if the band is really still going. Now Mick Fleetwood has spoken out, asserting that Fleetwood Mac are very much together.

Speaking with The Times, Mick said how the last year has been “so catastrophic” for everyone with the pandemic.

The 73-year-old said: “We’ve all been shocked that life can change so very quickly, but you’re talking to the dude who never gives up.

“We are still a band. We have not broken up. And here we are.”

Despite the hiatus, the Fleetwood Mac drummer is still hopeful for a proper farewell for the band.

Asked if Lindsey could be persuaded to rejoin Fleetwood Mac, Mick, replied: “Strange things can happen.”

The drummer also reassured that the band are “alive and well” and John McVie would be up for a tour if you showed him a gig.

Mick said: “My vision of things happening in the future is really far-reaching. “Would I love to think that [reunion] could happen?

“I’d love to think that all of us could be healed, and also respect the people who are in the band, Neil Finn and Michael Campbell.”

Meanwhile, biopics of classic rock bands and singers are very popular at the moment, following the likes of Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman.

Interestingly. an un-produced Fleetwood Mac biopic script made it on to the Hollywood Black List in 2019, so surely that’s a project the band could get behind?

Titled Rumours after the band’s most celebrated album, the screenplay was written by Tyler Austin and Patrick Eme.

A description reads: “In 1970s LA, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, two struggling musicians and lovers, join a band called Fleetwood Mac and are thrown into a whirlwind of worldwide fame, infamous drug addiction, and one of the best-selling albums of all time—which also happens to be about the disintegration of their relationship.”
