Newsnight: Tory MSP criticises IndyRef2
The claim was made by Dehenna Davison, who represents Bishop Auckland, against the seat’s former MP Helen Goodman. On May 9, Ms Davison said she had injured her finger whilst campaigning for the previous week’s local elections.
She tweeted: “I always said an election would one day land me in hospital!
“Thankfully, today, only for a dodgy finger!
“A massive thanks to both Mark and Jackie at Bishop Auckland Hospital, who had me in and out in less than 10 mins after I’d consulted NHS 111 online.”
However Ms Goodman was less than impressed, replying: “You went to hospital to get a plaster on your finger!!!!!!what??”

Ms Davison took Bishop Auckland off Labour
Ms Davison claimed she went to the hospital following professional advice.
She wrote: “I was directed to the Urgent Care Centre on professional advice from NHS 111 to have it drained, dressed, and to have antibiotics prescribed.
“Next time, I’ll give you a buzz for medical advice.”
However her Labour predecessor didn’t appear satisfied with the response writing “it’s a very expensive way of giving treatment” and claiming hospitals take “too many people who should go to the chemist/gp”.

“I always said an election would one day land me in hospital!”
Ms Davison shot back: “I have lost count of the number of people who, unprompted, have pointed out the constant trolling I have received from my predecessor.
“This has come from friends, colleagues, and even strangers, including from members of Helen’s own party.”
She later added: “I have largely stayed quiet because I haven’t wanted to cause a fuss nor sink to her level, but online bullying must be called out, and enough is enough.”
Richard Holden, another Conservative MP who represents North West Durham, backed her up accusing Ms Goodman of having “attempted to troll” Ms Davison.

The Tories took Hartlepool from Labour
This was denied by Ms Goodman who replied: “Here we go even Tory MPs join in online bullying!
“I’m 63 I don’t even know what trolling means let alone attempt to do it.”
Ms Davison won Bishop Auckland in December 2019 with 53.7 percent of the vote.
The seat had previously been Labour since the 1930s.
Scottish Tory promises ‘no ifs or buts’ regarding independence
Last week Labour suffered a disastrous series of election results losing Hartlepool, which had been a safe seat, to the Tories in a by-election.
The Tories took control of councils for Harlow, Northumberland, Pendle, Nottinghamshire, Nuneaton, Dudley, Cornwall, Basildon and Maidstone.
Sadiq Khan was re-elected as Mayor of London but by a tighter margin than was widely expected.
The Tories won a number of councils in the north and midlands
Labour’s best result was in Wales where they took Rhondda from former Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood and fell just one seat short of a Senedd majority.
In Scotland the SNP emerged as the largest party but fell short of a parliamentary majority by one seat.
However a second independence referendum could still make it’s way though the Scottish parliament with the help of Green votes, though the UK Government is fiercely opposed.
