Do you REALLY need skincare tools and devices? Expert weighs in

Foreo
Foreo comes out on top with more than 160,200,000 hashtag views, and the brand has recently been listed as one of the top three skincare brands in the world with celebrity fans like Rita Ora, Victoria Beckham and Love Island’s Molly-Mae… but do we need to invest?
If you’re talking about the brand’s staple Foreo Luna, which is a vibrating cleansing device, it’s totally up to you!
Laura said: “I don’t think this will harm the skin and it doesn’t harbour bacteria but whether it is actually beneficial is debatable.
“A deep cleansing facial massage with your own hands or a gua sha would be preferable in my opinion?
“I think this device is nice to have but not essential.”
Foreo also has a masking device called the UFO and a facial toning device called the Bear – the brand is considered the champion of skincare devices, and for good reason.
While the devices might give excellent results for some people, Laura reckons you don’t need to fork out the hundreds of pounds to own them if you don’t have the money.
Gua sha
Gua sha tools are rooted in ancient Chinese medicine, with the word literally meaning ‘scraping’.
This tool has been ‘Westernised’ recently, which has led to some concerns about whether or not the brands producing them actually know how to use them properly.
If done right, the tool is supposed to slim and depuff your face and Laura thinks gua shas are a “good pick”.
She said: “Gua sha tools are great to stimulate lymphatic drainage and tone facial muscles.”
You should look up a tutorial online before diving in the deep end with a gua sha, as it’s important to know how to use one to get the results you want.
