Pret a Manger: Sandwich chain to open in petrol stations

Pret a Manger has suffered since the start of the pandemic last year as it was forced to close many of its city centre cafés. Therefore, the sandwich chain is finding new ways to reach customers.
Pret a Manger has announced that it will open branches in petrol stations across the UK.
The food and beverage chain hopes to reach new customers, looking beyond its traditional target demographic of city workers.
Most of the company’s branches are in large city centres and high streets, but that will soon be subject to change.
In the coming months, Pret wants to offer drinks, meals, and snacks to customers in petrol stations, service stations, and even Tesco stores.

Pret’s first petrol station branch will be in Southgate, London, with another planned to open in 2022.
The company will offer a similar menu to the one available in city centre branches, featuring items such as sandwiches, soups, coffees, teas, and juices.
William Bannister, CEO of MFG, commented: “We are proud to become the first forecourt operator globally to welcome a Pret on site for consumers who want a more premium experience.
“We pride ourselves on not only serving the motorist but on also being a leading convenience retailer.”
The sandwich chain’s new move follows a series of company changes, including a £20 monthly subscription service, a new spring menu, and the introduction of Pret shops in Tesco supermarkets.
In the coming months, Pret will open four new branches in Tesco stores across the country.
Pano Christou, Pret’s Chief Executive, said: “As the UK emerges from lockdown, this partnership with Tesco is one way in which we’re transforming our business model to adjust to a new way of living and working.
“We look forward to working with the Tesco team on this partnership.”
Additionally, Pret a Manger’s spring menu was unveiled earlier this month.
New additions include Falafel, Avocado and Chipotle Flatbread and Chicken Pesto and Rocket Flatbread.
Pret is also adding new salad bowls in addition to its existing range.
Customers can order the Roasted Chickpeas, Mozzarella and Pesto Salad Bowl at £5.50 a bowl.
