The Biden Administration will be cooperating with the EU to create an accord set to be signed ahead of the forthcoming EU-US summit in Brussels on June 15, according to POLITICO. The potential deal appears in draft conclusions seen by the news outlet.

As part of the agreement, Washington would work closely with the European Defence Agency (EDA).

The Biden Administration would also participate in the body’s plan aimed at increasing the EU’s capability development and research.

Meanwhile, it emerged Boris Johnson will create a new “Atlantic Charter” with US President Joe Biden that will commit the UK and the US to leading the world recovery from the coronavirus crisis.

Both leaders are expected to discuss a pledge together during a private meeting in Cornwall.

The summit will see them agree on a plan of action to boost worldwide vaccination and recoup the global economy.

Their historic deal is designed to reprise the first Atlantic Charter signed by Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt as a blueprint for recovery from the Second World War.

Ahead of his first meeting with Mr Biden, the Prime Minister said last night: “While Churchill and Roosevelt faced the question of how to help the world recover following a devastating war, today we have to reckon with a very different but no less intimidating challenge – how to build back better from the Coronavirus pandemic.

“And as we do so, cooperation between the UK and US, the closest of partners and the greatest of allies, will be crucial for the future of the world’s stability and prosperity.

“The agreements President Biden and I will make today, rooted as they are in our shared values and outlook, will form the foundation of a sustainable global recovery.

“Eighty years ago the US President and British Prime Minister stood together promising a better future. Today we do the same.”

Mr Johnson and Mr Biden are set to see each other face-to-face today ahead of the G7 Summit of world leaders starting in Carbis Bay, Cornwall, on Friday.

HMS Prince of Wales, one of the Navy’s two aircraft carriers and the biggest warship built in a British shipyard, will welcome the two leaders for their summit.

The Prime Minister and President Biden will today look at historic documents from the wartime talks from the Churchill Archive in Cambridge.
