The eldest child of the Earl and Countess of Wessex is a keen equestrian just like Prince Philip.

The competition, which concluded its five-day run yesterday, involves multiple equestrian disciplines including show jumping, dressage, driving, showing and endurance.

Although Buckingham Palace has not yet confirmed it, some reports have speculated Lady Louise inherited the carriage after her grandfather’s tragic passing in April.

The same carriage was included in his funeral procession earlier this year.

Prince Philip, who had been designing the horse-drawn vehicles since the 1970s, had it built to his exact specifications approximately eight years ago.

Speaking last month to BBC Radio 5, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, discussed how pleased Prince Philip was that his granddaughter had taken up the art.

“He [Philip] was so pleased when she took the sport up because I took it up – I was at the beginning of my carriage driving career and I fell pregnant with Louise so I had to hang up the reins.

“So I was really delighted when she decided that she wanted to have a go and my father-in-law was always so good at encouraging.
