Gareth Southgate is a former football player and manager of the England national team. We’ve been shouting chants about the manager for the last month as England continue to win games in the Euro 2020 tournament, but it’s not an easy job. Even though Southgate’s job is stressful, you’d expect him to be well-paid. How much is the England manager worth?

Gareth Southgate played for Southampton, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough before retiring in 2006 at the age of 35.

He went on to replace Steve McClaren as the Middlesbrough manager, before becoming the Academy manager for England in 2011.

Then, Southgate managed the England national under-21 football team for three years until stepping up as the Caretaker Manager for the England National team in September 2016.

Sam Allardyce and Roy Hodgson have said the £3 million salaries are about right for an England national team manager.

However, other managers such as Sven Goran-Eriksson and Fabio Capello who managed England in the early 2000s earned between £4 million and £6 million a year.

Everyone knows the players aren’t strapped for cash either, but Southgate’s team will get a hefty sum if they win the tournament this Sunday.

The overall payout for the winners of the Euros is £23 million, but the England squad won’t get the full amount because they haven’t won all of their games.
