Camilla: Royal’s choice of face masks show she is ‘approachable and fun’

Face coverings have become the new normal over the past year, and barely anybody has left the house without one in months. With the rules on face coverings changing from July 19, Express.co.uk looks back at a member of the royal family’s best mask moments.

Whenever members of the royal family have stepped out in public over the last year, they have almost always been seen wearing a mask.

When mentioning royal masks, Camilla Parker-Bowles and Kate Middleton comes to mind.

Kate has a collection of floral masks, including the one featuring tiny green and blue flowers she wore for her first appearance at Wimbledon earlier this month.

Fans have also seen her wearing dark and neutral-coloured masks, such as the plain black one she wore for a visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum in May – the subtle colour and design complementing her red and black tartan Alessandra Rich dress.

However, Camilla has a more impressive mask collection.

Not only does Camilla own floral – as well as plain – masks, but the Duchess has also been seen in animal and jungle print masks.

It is clear that Camilla’s fashion confidence has grown over the past year as not only has she been experimenting with unique designs, but she has also been colour- and print-clashing her masks with her outfits.

In June, the Duchess visited the Garden Museum in London and donned a colourful jungle print dress with an equally multicoloured floral mask.

DON’T MISS

Some of Camilla’s other best masks include a paw-print black and white version, a silk one featuring a dragonfly, a leopard print model, a red poppy version, and a blue cotton mask with a unique eye-like print.

The plain-coloured masks Camilla wears are usually blue, fashion expert Samantha Harman noted.

The personal stylist said this colour choice is no accident.

She explained: “The colours you wear near your face can make a big difference to how vibrant you look, too, especially as you age.

“Lots of the masks she’s worn have a delicate curve which not only stop them falling off our nose, but highlight your cheekbones.”

Samantha went on to say that Camilla’s masks “tell the world something about her”.

She said: “She has done a great job of using her mask not just a last-minute mandatory add-on, but a stylish accessory which conveys the message that she is approachable and fun.

“If there was an award for Best Maskdrobe, Camilla would be the winner.

“Camilla wearing fun, colourful and stylish masks, makes masks not just a chore, but something you can use to add a stylish edge to an outfit.”
