Prince Harry news: Duke ‘must be prepared’ to elaborate on ‘truth bombs’ | Royal | News

The Duke of Sussex, 36, announced a deal with Penguin Random House publishers to release his first book. The memoir will reveal his “highs and lows” as a member of the Royal Family.

However, the announcement has led to extensive speculation.

Some royal observers have questioned whether the Duke is set to elaborate on the explosive claims made during his and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Richard Kay, editor at large for the Daily Mail, wrote in the publication: “The only explanation for a memoir now must be to capitalise on the publicity and huge fame that he has generated ever since Megxit.”

He added: “What can Harry offer, apart from a lot of score-settling with the media? In order to justify the vast sums that are being bandied around, it can only be one thing: the book will be a tell-all.

“He must therefore be prepared to expand on all the explosive ‘truth bombs’ he and Meghan detonated under the Royal Family with Oprah back in March.”

Prince Harry announced the news in a statement, pointing out he would be “writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become”.

He added: “I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story – the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned – I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.

“I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a first hand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”

Proceeds will be donated to charity, however, specific details about the amount has not been disclosed.

Markus Dohle, CEO of Penguin Random House said the Duke had “harnessed his extraordinary life experience as a prince, a soldier, and a knowledgeable advocate for social issues, establishing himself as a global leader recognised for his courage and openness.”

Penguin House issued a press release detailing that the book would be “intimate and heartfelt”.

It read: “In an intimate and heartfelt memoir from one of the most fascinating and influential global figures of our time, Prince Harry will share, for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him.

“Covering his lifetime in the public eye from childhood to the present day, including his dedication to service, the military duty that twice took him to the frontlines of Afghanistan, and the joy he has found in being a husband and father Prince Harry will offer an honest and captivating personal portrait, one that shows readers that behind everything they think they know lies an inspiring, courageous, and uplifting human story.”
