Back in 2002, the country celebrated Her Majesty The Queen’s Golden Jubilee after 50 years on the throne. One of the highlights was Party at the Palace, featuring performances from the likes of Paul McCartney, Elton John and Queen. Brian May kicked off the concert by playing God Save the Queen on his electric guitar from the rooftop of Buckingham Palace.
Brian and Roger Taylor later performed as Queen later on in the night with different singers on each song.
The duo kicked off with Radio Ga Ga, which Roger sang while Genesis legend Phil Collins took over on the drums.
Next up, Brian sang We Will Rock You accompanied by the cast of the Queen musical of the same name.
They were then joined on stage by recent Pop Idol winner Will Young, who sang We Are The Champions, before three of the We Will Rock You cast performed Bohemian Rhapsody.

But now Will has admitted he wasn’t the first choice to sing We Are The Champions, having been roped in last minute.
Speaking on Magic Radio Breakfast, the Pop Idol winner shared: “I wasn’t meant to be singing We Are the Champions but Phil Collins didn’t want to do it, he was too busy drumming.
“So last minute … they were like, ‘Phil Collins would like you to sing with Queen’ and I was like ‘What?! What’s happened to my life?’”
The singer even remembers struggling in rehearsal, being the only other performer to swear on stage other than Black Sabbath’s Ozzy Osbourne.
While on the possibility of being a Pop Idol judge, Will said: “Yeah. I’d get some serious corrective surgery before, so people would be like, ‘Oh my god he hasn’t aged at all’ but creepily.
“I had a little bit of Botox once, but I didn’t like it. I was smiling and it sort of squidged my face up.
“It was quite a few years ago, but if Pop Idol came back, I’d go the full face. New face, new name. I’d come back as Simon Cowell.”
