Princess Leonor of Spain and Princess Alexia of the Netherlands have a huge month ahead of them as they prepare to move to the UK to study. Leonor, who is King Felipe and Queen Letizia’s daughter and the heir to the Spanish throne, will study the International Baccalaureate program for two years at the UWC Atlantic College in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. The 15-year-old will be joined by Alexia who is the second daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima.

As reported by Hello Magazine, UWC is set in the 12th century St Donat’s Castle on the southern Welsh coast.

The campus facilities include a library, woodland, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, and classrooms within historic buildings.

The college was founded in 1962 by a German educationalist Kurt Hahn, who was also responsible for setting up the Gordonstoun boarding school in Scotland, famously attended by Prince Charles.

Notable alumni include King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and Princess Raiyah bint Al-Hussein of Jordan, as well as princess Elisabeth of Belgium, 19, who also graduated from the college in May 2020.

The princesses will reportedly reside at one of the eight boarding houses on the campus during their studies.

The college’s website says that lessons start each morning at 8am and finish at 1.10pm.

On top of that, as part of the curriculum, students are expected to undertake a minimum of 2 hours of community service, 2 hours of physical activity and a further 2 hours of creative activity each week.

These sessions take place in the afternoons, evenings and weekends.

Queen Letizia combined the dress with black espadrilles, her go-to shoes during the summer holiday.

The pink linen kaftan featured a V-neck, short sleeves and midi skirt with belt.

On this occasion, the queen opted for natural makeup with a dash of mascara.

She decided to keep her jewellery to a minimum, sporting a pair of gold hoop earrings.

Queen Letizia looked very chic with her hair tied in a messy bun.

The Spanish royal was looking beautiful showing off her tan but so were her daughters, Princess Leonor and Sofia.

Princess Leonor wore a white top and denim skirt paired with beige espadrilles.

Princess Sofia donned a blue jumpsuit with a white T-shirt.

She opted for the same hairstyle and shoes as her sister.

The designer of Queen Letizia’s dress and founder of Dear Prudence, Casilda Arizón, revealed a secret about the royal’s fashion choice.

“They contacted us from the royal house, because they were interested in various pieces,” the designer explained.

However, she said that surprisingly, they wanted to pay for it.

Usually, designers and brands send pieces of clothing to the royals as a gift but on this occasion, the Queen insisted on paying for the dress.

Casilda told Vanitatis there is a small difference between the dress they have available online and the one Queen Letizia wore. Queen Letizia’s is a limited edition, made up of linen and silk, while the one on the website is made of cotton and linen.

“It is a very limited edition, only seven pieces. So we decided to send that one, which was something more special.

“The pattern and the way of making is the same, but being a different fabric, we wanted her to wear something a little more special,” she explained.

“The fact the Queen trusts us as a Spanish brand, with all the pieces made in Spain and such good quality materials, makes it clear that she cares a lot about supporting the sector.”

Queen Letizia usually supports small Spanish brands and entrepreneurs.
