Last week the legendary Swedish band ABBA announced their return after 40 years away from the spotlight. The quartet revealed they will be releasing Voyage, their first album in almost four decades, on November 5, 2021. They also made the exciting announcement that they will be kickstarting a residency show in London. The shows are called the ABBA Voyage. During these gigs the band will be utilising ABBAtars, virtual versions of themselves performing alongside a 10-piece live band.

Tickets for these monumental shows are on sale this week.

When do ABBA Voyage tickets go on sale?

ABBA will be performing their Voyage residency slots from May 2022 until September 2022.

Throughout each month the group will play around 30 gigs, excluding May and September, which both have five gigs.

Each performance will be held in a custom-built arena at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, England.

Fans have high hopes for the return of the epic band, who have already proved they still have what it takes to write a hit.

Bjorn Ulvaeus said of the new songs: “I just knew it had to be about us. It’s about realising it’s inconceivable to be where we are. To release a new album after 40 years and still be the best of friends and enjoying each other’s company… who has experienced that? Nobody.”

He went on: “The album is in the can [finished]. If we were not proud of it we would not have released it.”

He went on to joke: “There is a proverb in the music industry. You should not wait more than 40 years between albums.”

Fellow member of the band Benny Andersson added: “We are not competing with Drake and all these guys. I don’t understand what the ingredients that work today are. We’ve done as good as we could at our age!”

Despite their age, the band have made some incredible achievements during their career.

In 2010 ABBA were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In 2015, their hit song Dancing Queen was inducted into the Recording Academy’s Grammy Hall of Fame.

Their last album, The Visitors, was released in 1981 and has since gone platinum in the UK, Sweden, Germany and Finland.
