Aside from being The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley was well-known for his incredible generosity. Charitable to local causes in Memphis, the star also often gave away cars to his friends, family and sometimes strangers. And now former girlfriend Linda Thompson has shared a touching story of Elvis’ lavish generosity to her.

Linda famously lived with Elvis at Graceland from 1972-1976 and regularly shares memories and photos of her time as The King’s girlfriend on her Instagram.

In her latest post, the 71-year-old shared a picture of Elvis, possibly on his Lisa Marie private jet considering the curvature of the roof, dressed in white.

Linda captioned the post, which includes more photos of the couple together: “Flashback Friday… To that time Elvis just nonchalantly walked into the room dressed in all white…

“Looking like a Greek God…with a beautiful blue diamond ring encircled with white diamonds set in platinum & said ‘Here honey I got this for you.’

Linda added: “I answered, ‘What? Why? It’s not my birthday or Christmas or any special occasion.’

“Elvis smiled that crooked little smile of his and softly said, ‘Because it’s Tuesday, and I love you.’”

A few years ago Linda published her memoir, A Little Thing Called Life: Loving Elvis Presley, Bruce Jenner and Songs in Between.

And while promoting the book, the Miss Tennessee model remembered “the greatest love imaginable” from The King.

Linda added: “I didn’t want to be one of those people that just jumped on the bandwagon and wrote a book and made a profit at his expense and to capitalise on that relationship. I was very guarded about that.

“I wanted to carve out my own position in life, write my own songs, carve out my own career, have my kids and my family and then write about my life and where he fit into it, which is, of course, the greatest love imaginable.”

While more recently she confessed: “I think first of all he would be proud of me and how I have tried two conduct my life in a way that has always respected him and his memory.

“That’s first and foremost to me. I’m a fan as much as anybody else is a fan of Elvis Presley. Also he was the love of my life. I adored him.”
