Iron Man replacement teased by Marvel star – ‘He’s a good leader’ | Films | Entertainment

The final scenes of Avengers Endgame were truly saddening for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only did Captain America bring his own journey to an end after travelling back in time to spend his life with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), but Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) was also killed off after using the Infinity Stones against Thanos (Josh Brolin). With the two main warriors gone, there is a power vacuum in the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes – but that may have changed with the arrival of the Eternals.

The Eternals hits cinemas later this year and introduces the titular aliens who have sculpted humanity over centuries.

Included in the line-up of the Eternals is Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden as Ikaris.

In a new interview, Madden responded to whether Ikaris could take over in Avengers 5.

He replied: “I don’t know. I know that he’s a good leader and a good soldier. If those are two traits that you need to lead the Avengers, then he has them.” (Via TotalFilm)

Madden went on to add: “But I wouldn’t be able to predict that.”

This is the second time Ikaris’ leadership has been called into question, and the film hasn’t even been released yet.

In the Disney movie’s first trailer one of the characters asked who would lead the Avengers now Captain Rogers and Iron Man had gone.

With a shrug, Ikaris responded: “I could lead them?” starting a ripple of laughter through the room.

Each of the superpowered aliens must fight the Deviants and stop them from destroying humanity.

Considering the film will include a global threat, the Avengers could indeed arrive on the scene to help.

One person who may also help the Eternals is Kit Harington’s character, Dane Whitman.

Historically, Whitman eventually becomes a hero known as Black Knight.

Harington recently revealed, however, before taking the role of the Black Knight hero, he was offered the spot of another Marvel hero.

He revealed: “You know, the comic-book and superhero world has called once before, and I didn’t like the role and the part and the time to do it. So I turned it down.

“And then this one [in Eternals] felt right to me. I liked that the character they were offering was not necessarily an Eternal. He was human. I did like that.

“I felt that I could do something with that, that he came with all these human faults. So it was the character that drew me to it, as well as it being the MCU, and how exciting.”

Eternals hits cinemas on November 5.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe films are available on Disney Plus.
