Even with aggressive treatment, he would still only have a few years to live. Devastated, Kevin went home with wife Sarah to break the news to their children.

He started chemotherapy. But one day, feeling particularly low, he decided to go for a run. A keen runner before his diagnosis, Kevin could now only manage a few laps of the park – but to him it meant everything.

“I managed three miles and collapsed in a chair feeling nothing but pure elation — I had proved that I could still run.”

This was the start of the incredible journey documented in Kevin’s moving and uplifting new memoir.

He asked his consultant if he could run the Brighton marathon – while undergoing chemo.

He was told: “Nobody with my kind of cancer could run a marathon on my kind of chemotherapy.”

But he started training, ran the marathon and has since run thousands of miles in some of the most challenging races on Earth – including the 156-mile Marathons des Sables across the Sahara Desert, raising huge amounts for the Prostate Cancer UK charity.

Since he doesn’t know how long his drugs will remain effective, Kevin doesn’t dwell on the future, he just keeps signing up for more races. His courage, grit and sheer determination to take one step at a time for as long as he can is extraordinary. You won’t read a more inspiring book this year.
