Global retirement age alert: Retire at 81 could become the norm | Personal Finance | Finance

[ad_1]

Hungary, Netherlands, Canada, the United States, Finland, Latvia, and Germany rank above the UK as they’re predicted to retire some one to two years older.

A rising state pension age in the UK is attributed to an increase in average life expectancy, and this is an upward trend across Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries – of which there are 38.

By 2050, it is expected average life expectancy will have increased by four years, thus potentially allowing people to work for longer.

In the UK, in 2025 it is expected average life expectancy will be 83.42 years, but rising to 89.27 years by 2050.
