Christmas countdown: 11 weeks to go – what jobs to do this week

[ad_1]

Rhiannon says: “I love Christmas – it’s my favourite time of year to get baking too, and I enjoy sharing what I make with family and friends.

“Getting to spend time catching up and winding down with loved ones is Christmas for me.

“I start planning for my Christmas baking during October. I’ll have a rough idea of what I’m going to bake, and start buying ingredients with a long shelf life, such as dried fruit and nuts, flour, sugar, baking powder and spices such as cinnamon and mixed spice.

“It gives me time to shop around instead of rushing in the busy weeks pre-Christmas, plus I can spread the cost too.”

Rhiannon’s top tips are all based on her experience as a baker: practical advice includes spreading the cost by buying in advance, and even making mince pies in advance to freeze – why didn’t we think of that before!
