In 2023 Marvel will bring its galactic superhero story to an end with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. Although only a few key details have been revealed about the movie so far, director of the series Gunn has just given a hint at one of the more harrowing scenarios in the series.
Gunn recently retweeted an article from Screen Rant predicting the fate of every character in the series.
Included in this article were a number of scenarios that could potentially happen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
The article theorised that the likes of Nebula, Star-Lord and Gamora will survive through the series, but a question mark was left over another character – Drax the Destroyer.
With this in mind, Gunn retweeted the article saying: “They got at least one right,” alongside an embarrassed face.

Gunn’s comments follow Bautista telling his fans that, once Gunn leaves the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he’ll do the same.
He said in 2020: “I don’t know if they’ll move forward with the character or with Guardians at all [after Guardians 3].
“I’ll probably have to do a table read but they would really even have to force me to do that. I like going in with no expectations, you know, because I’m a fan.

Drax The Destroyer came onto the scene in the 2014 movie Guardians of the Galaxy, where he vowed to avenge his fallen wife and daughter by killing Thanos.
Thanos has since been defeated, giving the character no real story-beats left to chase.
Does this mean the character will be killed off in the upcoming third film in the series?
Bautista has previously been a vocal critic of Marvel’s treatment of Drax’s character.
Bautista said earlier this year: “I really wished they would have invested more in Drax, personally. Because I think Drax has more of a story to tell.
“I think Drax has a really interesting backstory which they dropped the ball on. That’s no dig on Marvel. They had their slate, I know what they’re focused on, that’s what they have slated out. But man, I think they really missed the ball on Drax. He has such a great backstory.

The Guardians of the Galaxy films are available on Disney Plus now.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 hits cinemas May 5, 2023.
