The Queen wowed audiences this morning as she walked through the Senedd’s doors with her son and his wife. Her Majesty wore an all-pink coat and a matching hat with purple flowers.
The Queen has an impressive collection of brooches, thought to be the largest in the world.
Some belonged to her mother, grandmother, and even great-grandmother, while others were designed and created in more recent years.
According to the Court Jeweller, the daffodil brooch is a new jewel which was given to the Queen as part of a set by the Sultan of Oman in 2012.
The Sultan gifted Her Majesty a shamrock brooch, a thistle brooch, and a Tudor rose brooch, as well as the daffodil jewel.
This was the first time royal fans saw the daffodil brooch, and the Queen wore it in public a year later, for a visit to Chelmsford Cathedral.
She donned it again in 2015, during a three-day visit to Germany.
While carrying out royal engagements in Berlin, Her Majesty matched the brooch with a pale yellow collared coat and a black and yellow feathered hat.
Many of Her Majesty’s brooches represent England’s close relationship with another country, while others symbolise the natural world.
Featuring the national flower of Wales, the silver and gold daffodil brooch does both.
Charlotte White, Head of Design at 77 Diamonds, Europe’s largest online jeweller, commented on the Queen’s much-loved jewels.
She said: “The Queen’s spectacular and extensive collection of brooches spans world-record breaking, historical and sentimental pieces.
“There are several priceless brooches owned by the Queen that are steeped in history and you could say these jewels attest to the sheer wealth and power of the British monarchy.”
To complete her outfit, Queen Elizabeth wore black gloves and her trusty pair of black and gold loafers.
Some royal fans were quick to take to social media, commenting on how well Her Majesty, 95, looked.
Twitter user Julie said: “She is wonderful.”
Another user under the name @greencattree wrote: “The Queen looks lovely, I wish I could wear colours like she can!”
User Ali Barbie added: “Whatever their private history, this is an iconic Royal Family.”
