The Duchess of Cambridge is known for her graceful style and always pairs her looks with impeccable hair and make-up choices. A celebrity stylist shares his top tops on how to recreate the hair that Kate wore to the Earthshot awards with a few simple steps and tools.
Syd Hayes, celebrity hairdresser and Babyliss brand ambassador, has shared his advice with Express.co.uk on how to easily achieve the shiny, swideswept curls Kate wore to the Earthshot awards last night.
He said: “Kate’s red carpet hair look is the epitome of glossy and glamour.”
Shine is key with this look so the first step is to prep the hair by washing it with a shine-boosting shampoo and Syd recommends using the Maria Nila Eco Revive Shampoo & Conditioner.
Then, apply a heat protectant over the hair to create a barrier between the hair and tools and prevent any frizziness.
The next step is blow dry the hair to get it looking full and shiny and Syd recommends using the BaByliss Hydro Fusion Air Dryer.
“Make sure you have tension when you’re drying your hair and the Advanced Plasma Technology in the dryer helps to smooth hair.”
The cold shot function also helps to seal the cuticle of the hair shaft and prevent any frizziness.
Syd continued: “Once hair is dry, create a deep side parting and finish with a shot of cool air to lock in the style and shine.”
To achieve Kate’s waves, use a hot brush like the BaByliss 9000 Cordless Hot Brush to create curls and add volume.
The hairdresser added: “This multi purpose tool helps to smooth your locks while adding body and movement. The bristles are specially designed with a unique rigid bristle configuration to prevent tugging or tangles, allowing you to get as close as possible to the root of your hair to prevent tangled knots.”
Next smooth the hair over and apply a shimmer spray to hold down any flyaways.
Lastly, drape one side of the hair over the shoulder to create that side swept look.
