Alexander McQueen wedding dresses – most popular thanks to Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton wed Prince William on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey, and her wedding dress stunned the world. The Duchess of Cambridge opted for an Alexander McQueen dress, which was designed by Sarah Burton. “Miss Middleton chose British brand Alexander McQueen for the beauty of its craftsmanship and its respect for traditional workmanship and the technical construction of clothing,” Buckingham Palace revealed in a statement on William and Kate’s wedding day.
“Miss Middleton wished for her dress to combine tradition and modernity with the artistic vision that characterizes Alexander McQueen’s work. “
The dress was Victorian-inspired.
Specifically, the bodice was inspired by the Victorian tradition of corsetry, meaning it narrowed at the waist and was padded slightly below the midsection, according to a statement released by the Palace.
This particular style is also an Alexander McQueen hallmark.

Little Mistress did some research to find the most successful celebrity wedding dresses and found out which wedding dress designers were the best.
Top of the list was Alexander McQueen.

Shockingly, Vera Wang did not feature in the top five despite dressing some of the most stunning brides in recent years.
In fact, she does not have the best track record for long marriages with only two of the six celeb brides still together: Ivanka Trump and Chelsea Clinton.
The average length of a Vera Wang marriage is only seven years.
Christian Lacroix, on the other hand nearly doubles that with 13.5 years.
Based on search interest and length of marriage, Alexander McQueen tops the list of wedding dress designers for the most lavish celebrity weddings.
It is not too shocking though when the fashion house’s most successful dresses have been worn by the British Royal Family in some of the biggest moments on television.
Both Kate Middleton and Princess Diana both donned wedding gowns by designers working for the fashion house.
In fact, Sarah Burton’s design for Kate tops the list for the most successful celebrity wedding dress of all time.
Sarah Burton is also the most successful designer, having also created Serena Williams’ main wedding dress, bringing Burton’s full search volume to over 90,000 searches globally every month.
Alexander McQueen’s other most famous dress went to Princess Diana.
The dramatic long train and classic puffed sleeves that perfectly encapsulates the 1980s saw an upsurge in interest last year when series four of The Crown was released.
This is interesting as the dress only made a 14-second appearance in the show, leaving royal fans eager to see the dress in more detail.
It is still considered one of the best wedding dresses of all time, permanently embedded into the memories of millions around the world.
