Star Wars: When is The Book of Boba Fett set in the Star Wars timeline? | Films | Entertainment

Chronologically, Boba Fett first appeared as a boy in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. An unaltered clone of Jango Fett who raised him as a son, he grew up to be a bounty hunter. Boba then most notably featured without removing his helmet in Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, while working for the crime boss Jabba the Hutt.
But during Return of the Jedi’s opening, Boba famously fell into a Sarlacc pit and was presumed dead.
But since Disney bought the rights to Star Wars, Lucasfilm have brought the character back for projects in the Star Wars timeline set after Return of the Jedi.
He first reappeared, having escaped the Sarlacc pit, in The Mandalorian season 2, which is set just five years after the Emperor’s demise at the end of the original trilogy.
Temuera Morrison played Jango Fett and his clones in Attack of the Clones and returned as an older Boba Fett without his helmet in the Disney+ series.

And in the end credits scene for The Mandalorian season 2, Boba killed Bib Fortuna and claimed Jabba’s throne for himself.
Now he’s getting his own spin-off show in The Book of Boba Fett, which is set right after this scene and presumably at the same time as the upcoming The Mandalorian season 3.
The Book of Boba Fett “finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.”
The first trailer landed today ahead of the show’s late December release on Disney+.
Ming-Na Wen co-stars as Fennec Shand, an elite mercenary and assassin in Boba’s service.
She also featured with the bounty hunter in The Mandalorian season 2, while her character also appeared in the animated series The Bad Batch, which takes place some 28 years before.
Following the conclusion of the Star Wars sequel trilogy in 2019, the next movie in the franchise will be Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron, which hits cinemas on December 22, 2023.
The Book of Boba Fest is streaming on Disney+ from December 29, 2021.
