How to build confidence through your wardrobe choices – ‘this is me, like it or lump it’
[ad_1]
When it comes to fashion, confidence is key. And when it comes to confidence, style could be important too. But how can one build and radiate confidence through clothing?
Stylist Melita Latham says: “Be confident and walk with pride whatever you are wearing.”
Melita believes that the key to improving your confidence through fashion is to be authentically, unapologetically yourself.
She said: “Wear what you love, choose the colours and fabrics you love, don’t be too hard on yourself.”
Fashion doesn’t look the same for everyone.
If you feel like your best self in jeans and trainers, don’t force yourself into a dress and heels when it doesn’t feel right.

“Be comfortable. Don’t feel you need to follow the latest trend and be uncomfortable in the clothes you are wearing.”
She added: “Share to the world who you are. This is me scenario. Like it or lump it. Dress for yourself, no one else.”
Make sure that what you’re wearing reflects your own personality and essence, rather than a personality and essence you want to portray.
“In reality, clothes communicate to everyone who sees us.”
DON’T MISS
However, this does not mean that you should shy away from making an effort or experimenting with your style.
Melita explained: “Clothing can have a massive impact on confidence, assertiveness and productivity.”
So, if you’re feeling a bit sluggish, brightening up your wardrobe could give you the lift that you need.
Melita recommends a pop of red.
“Red is a super bold statement colour. It says take action, shows seriousness and power.”
Meghan Markle dazzled in head to toe red at the Salute to Freedom gala in New York on November 10.
She paired a stunning Carolina Herrera satin dress with matching red slingback shoes.
Searches for ‘red dress’ have since exploded on Google, with a 1,328 percent increase.
If head to toe red is not your thing, perhaps opt for a striking red lipstick.
Melita added: “Orange/yellows are fun and cheery, energetic and vibrant.”
“Pastel pinks/blues are soothing and relaxing. They say, ‘I’m chilled.'”
As the winter months roll around, and consequently the winter blues loom, “polka dot tops and floral printed dresses” are your friends.
These, and your “sparkly sequinned Christmas outfit” are pick me ups.
Most importantly: “Dress to impress…Yourself. Fashion is about you and your tastes.”
