Spider-Man No Way Home trailer 2: The most hyped Marvel movie since Avengers Endgame WATCH | Films | Entertainment

[ad_1]

Having broken Avengers Endgame’s record for the most-watched trailer in its first 24 hours with just a teaser, fans have been eagerly awaiting Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer 2. Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have put on a special fan event in Los Angeles today to debut the teaser and now it’s finally arrived. With the promise of some multiverse madness with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, it looks like Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is about to face off against some Spider-Man villains from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s movies.

After leaking his involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock from Maguire’s Spider-Man 2 showed up at the end of the first teaser trailer.

And now he’s joined but four other Sony villains in Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin from the first Spider-Man movie and Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman from Spider-Man 3.

Additionally, representing Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man is Rhys Ifans’ Lizard and Jamie Foxx is back as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Some fans have questioned where the sixth villain is given this team of baddies could well make up a multiversal Sinister Six.

No doubt there will be another one, perhaps in Tom Hardy’s Venom given that he entered the MCU at the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer 2, also shares a bit more of the upcoming blockbuster’s storyline.

Doctor Strange tells Peter that his spell that was supposed to make the world forget that he’s Spider-Man also ripped open the multiverse, bringing in these villains from other realities.

Interestingly, Doc Ock doesn’t recognise Holland’s superhero saying, “You’re not Peter Parker”, so presumably he is the one for Maguire’s universe.

Some fans may be disappointed by the lack of the heavily rumoured appearances of Maguire and Garfield’s Spider-Man incarnations in the new trailer.

However, at the end of the footage, Doctor Strange says: “They’re starting to come through and I can’t stop them.” Does that mean more villains from Sony movies, or perhaps it actually is teasing those two other Peter Parkers?

Around 2:22 when Holland’s Peter is surrounded by scaffolding and jumping in to fight Electro, Sandman and Lizard, the latter is clearly flinging himself into nothing.

It’s now just under a month until the movie releases, so perhaps the third and final trailer will reveal Maguire and Garfield’s versions of Spider-Man?

The film’s new synopsis reads: “For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighbourhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk.

“When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe.

“Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home hits UK cinemas on December 15 and in US movie theatres on December 17, 2021.
