How Kate Middleton has solidified royal style with ‘nothing but grace and elegance’

As a member of the Royal Family, Kate, Duchess of Cambridge is always under the royal spotlight, and every inch of her outfits are scrutinised in detail. Express.co.uk spoke to Miranda Holder, TV & Celebrity Fashion Expert, about Kate’s iconic style over the last decade.
Royal fans were delighted when Prince William announced his engagement to Kate Middleton back in 2010, and the couple married the following year in a fairytale royal wedding.
In the years since, Kate has worked on establishing her royal role, in addition to juggling life as a busy mother-of-three.
Miranda Holder, TV & Celebrity Fashion Expert, said: “The nation adores Kate Middleton, and it has been a pleasure to watch her blossom over the years from a shy young lady into the absolute style icon that she is today.
“Navigating motherhood and becoming a woman is hard enough for the rest of us, but doing it solely in the public eye is far from easy.

“Kate has done so with nothing but grace and elegance, as she has slowly unfurled her fashion wings and developed her style credentials for which she is much admired today.”
Kate’s style has undergone several changes over the last 10 years, and the Duchess-to-be’s earlier years in the royal spotlight showed huge fashion potential.
Kate’s fashion was a source of great interest before she was engaged to Prince William, as she was frequently photographed in the noughties.
And the iconic navy wrap dress she wore to announce her engagement in 2010 sold out in a flash.
Ms Holder said: “Kate has always been stylish, and looked demure in the earlier years wearing classic looks such as immaculately tailored two-piece skirt suits and shift dresses that were very much reminiscent of Princess Diana in her early years.
“Her fashion choices were tasteful and modest and she sensibly shied away from taking any risks which avoided the dreaded fashion faux pas, whilst also being very mindful of royal protocol and guidelines.”
But as Kate grew emboldened with her role in the Royal Family, she became more confident with her fashion choices.
Ms Holder added: “As time has passed however Kate has settled into her role as the Duchess of Cambridge and has slowly become more comfortable with who she is, which is reflected very much so in her style choices.

“She is the embodiment of femininity and grace, but is far more self-assured – all of which has helped develop a signature ‘Kate look’.
“Kate has long been a champion of the British High Street and her sellout block-colour midi length outfits from the likes of Reiss have become her trademark go-to.”
When out on royal engagements, Kate will normally don a smart tailored suit jacket or one of her favoured classic dresses.
Kate has been known to dabble with sleek ponytails and intricate updo’s for more formal events, but it is the bouncy blowouts Kate’s hair is famed for.
Equally, Kate has firmly placed her stamp on royal fashion when it comes to red carpet appearances or formal dinners.
The Duchess has been known to ooze Hollywood glamour with some of her show-stopping outfit choices in recent years.
Ms Holder explained: “In recent years we have seen the Duchess step out in more dramatic silhouettes, more vivid colours and head-turning looks, from contemporary leading designers such as The Vampire’s Wife to the jaw-dropping gold floor-length Jenny Packham dress she wore to the latest Bond premiere.
“All of these required confidence to carry them off, and Kate did so with admirable flair.”
