Since the cap’s introduction, prices haven’t swayed too significantly.
In 2019, the average annual SVT price was £1,137, costing Britons an average of £94.75 per year.
When OFGEM adjusted it for the first time six months later, it rose by £42 to an annual average of £1,179, £98.25 every month.
By 2020, OFGEM changed its average usage rates by 200 kilowatts per hour (kWh), from 2,900kWh to 3,100kWh.
