The planned closure would mark the first time the Swedish retail chain has closed one of its large UK sites since arriving in the country 33 years ago.
IKEA’S area manager for UK and Ireland Marsha Smith released a statement, saying: “As we go through this process , our priority is to support ur co-workers in the Coventry store.
“Our ambition is to retain as many people as possible within IKEA.
“Where this isn’t possbile, we will support them to find new employment.
“We will work closely with out co-workers, impacted suppliers, unions and trusted partners to ensure all our co-workers recieve all the support they need.”
