Two hotel giants celebrated major openings in marquee cities on Thursday as Marriott International’s St. Regis Hotels & Resorts brand welcomed The St. Regis Chicago to the Windy City.
Meanwhile, Hilton announced the opening of Canopy by Hilton San Francisco SoMa, marking the modern boutique brand’s debut in the City by the Bay.
“The debut of The St. Regis Chicago signals a significant milestone for the St. Regis brand as we grow our footprint in the United States and celebrate our first property in the American Midwest,” said George Fleck, Vice President and Global Brand Leader, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, in a statement.
“We are proud to open our doors in Chicago, an energetic and dynamic city that, like the St. Regis brand, is known for its rich history and pioneering design. Through The St. Regis Chicago, we will debut a new icon within the city, sharing with our guests and local luminaries an architectural masterpiece that also represents the pinnacle of luxury hospitality today.”
“The opening of Canopy by Hilton San Francisco SoMa marks Hilton’s first lifestyle hotel in the city,” said Jenna Hackett, brand leader, Canopy by Hilton. “Joining close to 40 Canopy by Hilton properties around the world, this hotel invites travelers and locals alike to experience sophisticated comfort, elevated design and bespoke culinary offerings that are a natural extension of the neighborhood.”
The St. Regis Chicago was developed by Magellan Development Group and designed by Studio Gang, led by Jeanne Gang. The 101-story tower in Chicago’s Lakeshore East neighborhood is now the tallest building in the world designed by a female architect.
The 12-story, 78,000-square-foot Canopy by Hilton San Francisco SoMa also boasts an ideal location in San Francisco’s South of Market (SoMa) district next to Union Square, Mission Bay, Oracle Park and Moscone Center.
