Queen ‘sad’ and ‘despondent’ over not seeing Archie as Meghan returns to UK without him | Royal | News

The Queen and other members of the Royal Family are said to be “very sad” and “despondent” that they have hardly seen the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son. It comes as Meghan is reportedly leaving Archie in Canada as she joins Harry in Britain this week for their last round of official engagements.

The Queen is understood to be “very sad” that she has seen so little of Archie since his birth, the Sunday Times reported.

And according to The Sun, senior royals are “despondent” over how long it has been since they saw the nine-month-old.

The Sussexes, who have been staying in a £10million mansion on Vancouver Island for the last three months, are stepping down as working royals on March 31.

Harry is already back in the UK carrying out his final engagements and Meghan is set to join him.

But Archie is believed to be staying in Canada with his nanny and Meghan’s best friend Jessica Mulroney.

The tot has not set foot on UK soil this year.

The last time Archie was seen was in a picture posted on Meghan and Harry’s Sussex Royal Instagram account on New Year’s Eve.

Meghan and Harry’s son is only known to have met Prince William and Kate’s three children at a polo match last July.

And he could see even less of the Royal Family as the Sussexes forge a new life in North America.

From the end of the month, Meghan and Harry will stop representing the Queen, become financially independent, drop their HRH titles and abandon their Sussex Royal brand.

They plunged the monarchy into crisis in January when they revealed plans to stand down as senior royals in a bombshell statement.

The announcement sparked emergency talks to sort out their future roles.

Harry and Meghan’s final royal appearance is expected to be the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey on March 9.

They will step out for the Endeavour Fund Awards, which recognises wounded, injured and sick service personnel, on March 5.

The following day Harry will join Formula One’s Lewis Hamilton at the official opening of the Silverstone Experience, a museum about British motor racing.

On March 7 the couple will attend the Mountbatten Music Festival at the Royal Albert Hall.

And Meghan will mark International Women’s Day on March 8.

Their decision to leave Archie in Canada will reportedly add an extra £50,000 to their security bill.

It comes amid mounting speculation over who will foot Meghan and Harry’s protection costs after they leave royal life behind.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
